"We made progress in my first session," Bryant declared.

Rep. Angela R. Bryant, filed today at noon to continue to represent District 7 - Halifax and Nash Counties in the N.C. House of Representatives and pledged to continue to use her experience, expertise and proven track record to build the seniority and relationships we need in Raleigh for strong representation for our district. The Bryant campaign county coordinators, Evelyn Dawson of Halifax County and Marvin Arrington of Nash County were present with her along with other supporters. Bryant further celebrated her filing with door to door canvassing and campaign strategy meetings with key supporters in the area.

“I am honored to serve as your representative. I hope that you will return me to the State House so I can continue to work hard for our shared priorities of education, fair utilities, good jobs and accessible healthcare,” said Rep. Bryant. "We made progress in my first session with Medicaid relief for the counties, increased funding for education at every level and health care, targeted tax credits for elders, workers and businesses, gang prevention and drop-out prevention; and yet, there is more to do to help our families and communities thrive.”

“The recent disappointing experience we had in our district with drop-out funding, highlights the need for using my experience in dealing with disparities and differences to help devise strategies to prevent the types of funding processes that continue to send resources to the larger and wealthier areas and not to our areas where the needs are greatest. That is hard work and a hard fight that I am prepared to take on with the support of our legislative delegations in Nash, Edgecombe, Wilson and Halifax Counties,” noted Rep. Bryant.

Rep. Angela Bryant is seeking election to the 7th District House of Representatives seat which she has held for almost a year. January 23, 2008 was the one year anniversary of her appointment to replace former Rep. Ed Jones who was appointed to the senate seat that was vacated by the untimely death of Sen. Robert Holloman. Bryant will likely face opposition in the Democratic Primary on May 6 for a two-year term beginning in January 2009. For the May primary, early voting and same-day registration runs April 17 to May 3 and the final election day is May 6. Absentee ballot applications can be requested now by phone call to the Nash County Board of Elections and the registration period for May 6th voting closes on April 11. If opposed by a Republican, Bryant will also have to face off in the November 4th General Election.

“With the slowing economy, even more families are finding it harder to keep jobs, housing, utilities and health care."

“With the slowing economy, even more families are finding it harder to keep jobs, housing, utilities and health care. That is why we will have to continue to look for tax relief and other costs-saving measures for families and seniors on low and fixed incomes and for strategies to keep our local and regional economy as strong as possible. Being from Nash County and representing Halifax and Nash, I am in a unique position to be the glue as a member and strong team player with the Halifax, Nash, Wilson and Edgecombe county legislative delegations. With your vote returning me to build seniority for you in the House, I can help our team work hard for our priorities and values,” concluded Rep. Bryant.
